February 5, 2010 v. Edison

The Aztecs met the Chargers trying to take their revenge for a 3-0 thrashing at Edison.  This match would also catapult Esperanza into first place with a win.

It was a scoreless first half, punctuated by shots from both sides either flying wide of the goal or being corralled by the keepers.

In the 58^th minute, Damon Baker’s (10) corner kick rattled around the six-yard box before David Vasquez (8) toed the ball into the goal for a 1-0 Aztec lead.

In the 68^th minute, a Chargers defender passed the ball back to his keeper, who whiffed on the bouncing ball, and Jayson Biedebach made the unopposed tap-in for a 2-0 lead.

That’s where the score stood two minutes later, and the Aztecs had completed their attempt to split the season with Edison.  The win vaulted the Aztecs into a first place tie with Los Alamitos.
