After defeating Fountain Valley 4-0 in the
League opener, the Aztecs traveled to
Marina High School for their second of a four
game road trip.
The Aztecs opened up with an early score from a 25 yard strike by Corey
Wolfrom. Approximately 3 minutes later Jeremy Stith Scored with great header
giving the Aztecs a 2-0 lead. The Aztecs continued dominating play in the
midfield from Wolfrom, Borst and Eddie Arellano. The Aztecs took multiple
shots and seemed to put together scoring drives at will. Born and Price took
balls up the lines time after time but Marina was able to deflect balls that
came close to the goal. At midway in the period Marina moved the ball Past
Aztec defenders and took a hard shot that glanced off the top just inside the
goal for a questionable score. The Aztecs shortly answered with a set strike
by Wolfrom to Eddie Arellano who headed the ball in for another score. The
period ended 3-1.
The second period was controlled by the Aztecs
who continued their tactical play by their field players and strong defensive
efforts by Warwick, Thelen and super goal keeping from Jerrod Stith. The
Aztecs coasted through the period with another score towards the end of the
period from Jeremy’s second of the day. The game ended with an Aztec victory
4-1.
